MSHS’s two signature community outreach programs bring gardening and healthy food to children and families throughout Minnesota.
- Minnesota Green has served the greening efforts of volunteer gardeners throughout the Twin Cities metro area since 1988. This program distributes donated seeds, plants, gardening tools and supplies to community gardens and public green spaces and helps gardeners beautify their neighborhoods, grow healthy food and strengthen their communities.
- Garden-in-a-Box launched in 2008, giving children across Minnesota the opportunity to grow vegetables. By distributing vegetable gardening kits and offering educational opportunities to community groups serving low-income and at-risk children and families, this program helps participants understand where fresh food comes from and how to make healthy food choices.
